Franki Lemon and cello at Stretch yoga studio in Vancouver

About

Franki Lemon has been teaching cello for over 7 years in Vancouver. Born and raised here, she went through the Suzuki Program at the Vancouver Academy of Music and has a strong classical music background. She has studied and mentored under Mary Thomson, one of the founders of the Vancouver-based, cello-only camp, Campocello. Franki was a student for the very first camp in 2001. Twenty years later, she has now stepped in to be the new Director to lead the next generation of cello players. She has completed her Suzuki Unit 1 cello training course under Avi Freidlander.

As a student, she played with the Vancouver Youth Symphony Orchestra. A highlight was performing for the 2010 Olympic Closing Ceremonies. She has continued her orchestral performing as a cellist with Symphony21, directed and conducted by Jaelem Bhate.

She has performed with numerous other groups, most recently with the History of Gunpowder, who toured through Germany and Italy in 2019. Franki has produced her own shows featuring a mix of influences combining bluegrass, country, folk, Americana and her classical upbringing.

Franki Lemon is the Assistant Strings Teacher for West Point Grey Academy where she works with grade 3 - 7 students playing bass, cello, viola, and violin.
